Colombian Born Guitarist Nilko Andreas Guarin has performed throughout the United States, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, Brazil, Germany, France and Portugal, and among numerous prizes is the recipient of the Colombia Exterior Award 2006, given to Colombians who have distinguished themselves outside of their native country, and “The Recognition award", 2008 given by the city of New York for his contribution to the Arts.

As a Soloist and Chamber musician, he won first prize at the Lillian Fuchs Chamber music Competition in New York, Nilko Andreas has performed at some of New York’s most prestigious classical music venues, including Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, Symphony Space, The 92nd Street Y, The New York City Classical Guitar Society, Mannes Guitar Seminar, The United Nations, New Victory Theater on Broadway, Steinway Hall, The Apollo Theatre, he has also performed at Harvard University, Columbia University, Princeton University, Long Island Guitar Festival, and various TV shows, He performed at The Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. as a special guest of the Colombian president and for the Ambassador at the Colombia Exterior 2007 ceremony. He was also was invited to perform alongside master pianist Harold Martina, at the museum of fine arts in Houston TX.
Nilko Andreas has performed for guitar greats such as Manuel Barrueco, Sharon Isbin, Eliot Fisk, Oscar Gighlia, David Russel, David Starobim, and Ricardo Cobo.

He began playing cello at the age of 7 at the National Conservatory of Colombia, eventually finding his true love in the classical guitar; He also studied Colombian Music at the Bogotá Academy of Arts while complementing the Guitar under the tutelage of Ramiro Isaza. In the year 2001 he was awarded a merit scholarship at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, were he studied Classical Guitar with David Leisner, Composition with Dr. J.Mark Stambaugh, as well as Orchestral Conducting with David Geber and Paul Brantley.

In his work of rediscover the music of Colombian master Guillermo Uribe Holguin in 2005 he premiered “Pequena Suite" a recently discovered piece in New York City sponsored by the Colombian Consulate. And is part of Tibagui Trio, an ensemble that performs Traditional and Original Colombian music from the Andes region. This season He gave concerts in, NY, Carnegie Hall Solo recital debut on April 2009. Portugal, and France, and though master classes at the mannes guitar Seminar.

As a composer, Nilko Andreas has written music for independent films, theatre and solo artists. His score for silent film “Pancho Villa’s Revenge” was celebrated at the world-renowned Flaherty Film Seminar. In the year 2005, his collaboration with award-winning theatre group Artificio, in Federico García Lorca’s “The Butterfly’s Evil Spell”, won him several honors, awards and rave reviews.
Nilko Andreas is the co-founder of la Cumbiamba eneye, an ensemble that performs Colombian traditional music from the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, cumbiamba was created in the year 2000 with the purpose of preserve, and teach Colombian heritage around the world. (www.lacumbiambany.com).

Nilko Andreas holds a Bachelor of music 07, and a master of Music degree 09, from the Manhattan School of Music, His major teachers has been. Ramiro Isaza, and David Leisner Nilko Andreas currently resides in New York City. He is a soloist with Horizon Concerts and gives conferences on Colombian guitar music, as well as teaching in various after-school programs and private students. In April 26 2009, he had his solo concert debut at Carnegie hall (Weill recital Hall), to a full house and Standing ovation.
