Colombian Born Guitarist Nilko Andreas Guarin has performed throughout the United States, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, France and Portugal, among numerous prizes he is the recipient of the Colombia Exterior Award 2006, and “The Recognition award" given by the city of New York for his contribution to the Arts. As a Soloist and Chamber musician, He has performed at some of New York’s most prestigious music venues and various TV shows; he performed at The Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. invited by the Colombian president He has performed for guitarists Manuel Barrueco, Sharon Isbin, Eliot Fisk, Oscar Gighlia, David Russel, and David Starobim..He began playing cello at the age of 7 at the National Conservatory of Colombia, eventually finding his true love in the classical guitar; He studied Colombian Music at the Bogotá Academy of Arts and was awarded a merit scholarship at the Manhattan School of Music where he studied Guitar, Composition and Orchestral Conducting. In his work of rediscover the music of Colombian master Guillermo Uribe Holguin in 2005 he premiered in New York “Pequena Suite" sponsored by the Colombian Government. As a composer, he has received many awards and rave reviews. This season He will give concerts in, Portugal, France and Colombia, and will teach master classes at the mannes guitar Seminar in New York, He holds a Bachelor of music 07, and a master of Music degree 09, from the Manhattan School of Music, His major teachers are Ramiro Isaza, Francisco Roldan and David Leisner. He is a soloist with Horizon Concerts and gives conferences on Colombian guitar music, as well as teaching in various after-school programs. www.nilkoandreas.com
